Sand labyrinth at Geneva Center

Outdoor Labyrinth

To walk the labyrinth is to make a pilgrimage to discover something about oneself and about God. Walking the labyrinth touches our sorrows and releases our joys and it brings peace. Unlike a maze, there are no blind alleys or choices to be made. Walking the labyrinth occupies the body, allowing the soul to connect with the mind undistracted. There are three phases to walking the labyrinth. First, following the path towards the center, while shedding life's distractions. Second, reaching the center, listening for divine insights. Third, following the path out from the center, integrating new insights with life.

Our labyrinth has eleven circuits. Its design is based on the ancient (1220 A.D.) labyrinth inlaid on the floor of the Chartres Cathedral in France.
